This is my book so of course I think it is an excellent read for women who are not only waiting for or seeking a husband, but who are also in need of a relationship with God. Too often we invest our time and energy in the wrong things while waiting for our hearts' desires.
Meanwhile God is patiently waiting on us to want Him and to seek Him out. Especially since He has everything we need and want in the palm of His hands. When we neglect to build a relationship with God, we make poor choices This is my book so of course I think it is an excellent read for women who are not only waiting for or seeking a husband, but who are also in need of a relationship with God.
When we neglect to build a relationship with God, we make poor choices that have serious spiritual, emotional, mental and sometimes physical consequences.
The Waiting Room, is made-up of 31 spiritual and personal disciplines to be engaged daily as a way to develop a profound relationship with God. Disciplines such as praying, fasting, meditating, de-cluttering, and so on mature us on many levels and help lead us to living purposefully while waiting for God to bless us with a husband. Dec 04, Brandy Arena rated it it was amazing. This is a great book for any woman looking for guidance and peace about finding the right mate.
Apr 21, Marilynn Dawson rated it liked it. This review is a year late and I deeply apologize for that! Editing was good. Layout was mostly consistent, but some devotions started on the left while most others started on the right. At least one Scripture was given for each day's reading, which was great! I'm not a fan of The Message at all, so that was a detracting point for me. Most of the habits that T.
Spellen encourages are healthy and many of them I could relate to myself. However, the devotion mentioning exercise and dietary habits This review is a year late and I deeply apologize for that!
However, the devotion mentioning exercise and dietary habits prompted me to write a lengthy blog post outlining the dangers of Christians getting involved in yoga. Encouraging Christians to get involved in spiritually damaging routines severely dropped the rating I could have given this book.
Many Christians treat this issue in a very off-the-cuff manner, as did the author, and I am unable to let that pass in my evaluation of this devotional.
If the session on exercise is skipped over, the rest is good encouragement. The audience this appears to be aimed at is the Christian single lady who has, prior to picking up this devotional, a very casual, arms-length, do-as-I-please-even-if-Scripture-says-its-wrong relationship with God. This person is encouraged throughout the devotional readings to change this attitude and be more deliberate about their faithwalk, to learn what God expects of them as they relate to Him in the various aspects of life spent in the waiting room.
Many of the habits Spellen encourages have been part of my own life for many years, and I wholeheartedly stand behind them. I am not in the Waiting Room myself, but for those that are, and for those who could use some encouragement to tighten up their faithwalk and draw closer to God in the process, this devotional is worth checking out.
Jun 24, M. Simone Boyd rated it it was amazing. I really liked this book and wish that I would have read it sooner. TC provides a road map to reclaiming and redeeming what past relationships took. And, a guide to preparing for marriage. She also gives great tips on simplifying life overall. These are things that I learned, before I got married.
But, I think T. Wrongs and prepare for Mr. Right a lot faster. Feb 13, Debbie Williams rated it it was amazing. Great Read I read this while fasting. I was able to do quite a bit of reflection on my life. It helped me press through my fast and focus on what was important, God. This book has some really great reminders when it comes to waiting on our God-given spouse. Chapters about focusing on God through various methods and how we can adjust our lives to be pointed at Him and not a man.
Overall its a quick read and was neat to read as I wait for my God-given husband to come into my life, but I This book has some really great reminders when it comes to waiting on our God-given spouse. Oct 01, Theresa rated it it was amazing.
Great book This book was great and very informative. I would definitely recommend this book to others who are just starting out on their journey in the waiting room and need motivation and practical steps on how to endure. Sep 12, Jacqueline Morgan rated it really liked it.
Good The waiting room is a good read while waiting on the Lord for His will to be manifested in your life for more reasons than just a husband. All of God's children need a little thug at times. Nov 05, Jake Fraser added it Shelves: won-t-read. No meat in this for me I think it would be good for newer Christians. Crunching the Numbers - Girlfriends in God - May 15, 2020
As a year-old single woman, I have had my share of surprises and struggles. In my late 20s, I was surprised by how few resources there were to help me maneuver through the challenges I was experiencing as a single adult. I discovered there were numerous books on dating and books that centered on contentment as a single, but I couldn't find much that addressed the tough things I faced day to day. More importantly, I couldn't find any books that simply validated what I was feeling. There are many misconceptions about singleness held by those who are married and by singles themselves. If you are plagued by any of the questions singles commonly ask, I encourage you to read on. If you're married, the answers may help you know how to respond to your single friends. Even though we know it is sinful and makes no sense, some of us become angry with God because He hasn't given us a mate. We know the Bible says He is good, loving and kind. He's perfect!
